~~~~~~BLOG TOUR~~~~~~~ Play Dead By Angela Marsons
I am super excited to be hosting day 2 of Angela Marsons Play Dead blog tour and to share my thoughts with you all today.
The Blurb
The dead don’t tell secrets… unless you listen.
The girl’s smashed-in face stared unseeing up to the blue sky, soil spilling out of her mouth. A hundred flies hovered above the bloodied mess.
Westerley research facility is not for the faint-hearted. A ‘body farm’ investigating human decomposition, its inhabitants are corpses in various states of decay. But when Detective Kim Stone and her team discover the fresh body of a young woman, it seems a killer has discovered the perfect cover to bury their crime.
Then a second girl is attacked and left for dead, her body drugged and mouth filled with soil. It’s clear to Stone and the team that a serial killer is at work – but just how many bodies will they uncover? And who is next?
As local reporter, Tracy Frost, disappears, the stakes are raised. The past seems to hold the key to the killer’s secrets – but can Kim uncover the truth before a twisted, damaged mind claims another victim …?
My Thoughts
Wow wow wow I absolutely freaking loved it and without a shadow of doubt this is the best one yet. Play Dead by Angela Marsons is the fourth novel in the KIm Stone series being a Black Country wench myself I love this series. It simply gets better and better.
One word of advice don't start this before you go to bed! I was gripped from the start and just couldn't put it down. My kindle was superglued to my hand while trying to do the washing at the same time, and I say trying because I didn't get much done LOL I was totally captivated in this chilling page turner, which I flew through.
So in this story we are taken on another Journey with Kim around the Black Country, I have to say I got mighty excited when we were taken to a village called Wall Heath which is Two seconds round the corner for me and I was also taken back to a place where I used to work! So for me visualising the places is easy because I actually know them. But nevertheless Angela has clearly done her research for those who don't know the Black Country. I love the information within this story from the past about The Black Country to.
Kim and her team are sent to Westerley research facility which is a body farm where investigations of  human decomposition of corpses in various states of decay take place. Then Detective Kim Stone and her team discover the fresh body of a young woman, it seems a killer has discovered the perfect cover to bury their crime.  But then a second girl is attacked and left for dead, her body drugged and mouth filled with soil. It's clear there is a serial killer on the loose but who is the next victim?!
I can honestly say, I had an OMG  moment with the first murder. Angela  certainly knows how to grab your attention and hold you there until the very end that's for sure. And boy what an ending……
The characters are growing from strength to strength although I am sure there is more to come with Kim has we get to know her more. I loved Bowen’s sarcastic sense of humour in this story. I did have a giggle to myself. Play Dead has everything you want in a crime book strong characters building up a  brilliant story with plenty twists and turn where I found myself saying “NO WAY” on more than one occasion. Angela also shows sensitivity in the writing with the subject matters. You can feel the emotion as you turn the pages.
This is the best Kim Stone book to date with this one being more gritty and tense. You crime book fans are seriously going to love it. If you haven't read any yet this can be read as a standalone although I would advise reading the series. It's too good not to miss.
I cannot recommend this book enough it's flippin fantastic or like they say in the Black Country Supa, smashin, great read!  And I wish the  rating was higher because this is a 10 star for me!!!
