My Thoughts
The Girls Next Door is an exciting new series introducing Detective Eden Berrisford. Which I couldn't wait to read being a massive Mel Sherratt fan and has always she doesn't disappoint.
The story starts off In April 2015 with one of gripping tense scene telling us the events of  sixteen-year-old Deanna Barker stabbing. Then we fast forward six months to October and we meet Detective Eden Berrisford and we follow her on a journey hunting a kidnapper who starts of with spate of vicious assaults which rocks this small community. Is this revenge for Deanna? Or something more? Then Eden finds the case gets personal when her niece Jess Mountford, goes missing.
With the kidnapper threatening Jess’s life, can Eden bring back her niece to safety? Or will the people of Stockleigh be forced to mourn another daughter…? But while all this is going on we also follow a story of Katie who is awaiting trial for the stabbing of Deanna!
There sounds like a lot is going on with quite a few characters in this story but Mel doesn't waste anytime introducing them to the reader. Everything is all there at the start then  Mel builds up tension has the story unfolds. This is one fast paced and  a easy read where I found myself flying through this book. And will Keep you guessing until the end.
I really like Eden and cannot wait to watch her character grow in the next book. She is certainly a new detective to look out for.
If you're looking for a gripping page turner this is the book for you which i highly recommend giving it 4 stars.
