Dead Man's Prayer by Jackie Baldwin

Dead Man's Prayer (DI Frank Farrell, #1)Dead Man's Prayer by Jackie Baldwin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dead Man's Prayer is the first book in the DI Frank Farrell series. And wow what a brilliant start it is....I freaking loved it.

In this story we are introduced to DI Frank Farrell who turned his back on the church eighteen years ago. But an ex priest is murdered in his home town so he has no choice but to delve into his past.

We follow Farrell has he returns to his roots in Dumfries. Things get even worse when he realises he the victim-Father Boyd. The man who forced him out the priesthood all those years ago. But then two twin boys go missing and the Dumfries police force recover one in abandoned church. But the big question is where is his brother?! Farrell finds himself investigating the two cases. He cant help feeling targeted. Is someone playing an Evil Game? or is he seeing patterns that don't exist? Either way Farrell needs to win before someone else ends up dead.

OMG I cannot believe this is a debut novel. This story is so well written you will not believe it! Honestly the author will take you into another world with this story it is that well written.
This is without a doubt a seriously brilliant page turner that will have you hooked from start to finish. I devoured it in one day I simply couldn't put it down.

The characters are brilliant and likable and we really get to know them well. I love the fact that Farrell is an ex priest, what a career change! For me this added that unique feel to the story.

But one thing I did love is the fact that it is dark and gritty and certainly something to get your teeth into. Dead Man's Prayer is full of twists and turns. So it ticked all the boxes for me.

This is a must read for police procedural fans, which I highly recommend giving it 5 massive stars.

Thank you to Jackie Baldwin for a copy in exchange for an honest review.
